Day Five: Irritations…
I’m supposed to talk about what irritates me about the opposite or my own gender, but I feel like that will just end up in gender bashing either way.
Solution?
Target neither- we all have flaws, genders aside, so let’s just talk about some irritating things that all humans can and have been guilty of:
1. Overusing the word “like”. I admit that I can sometimes go overboard on this word when trying to relate a story very quickly, but the amount of times that some people say the word “like” is astonishing.
2. Not being straightforward, acting cowardly, or going about a matter in a backhanded way. Though there may be three items there, they all go under the same category for me.
3. Not doing your homework. And I’m not talking about academically- I mean when someone attacks you or your beliefs, but takes no time to try to understand or research the opposite side. There are always two sides to every argument, and often the person who can’t at least acknowledge that is losing out on either learning something new or further grounding their own ideas. No issue is simply black and white.
4. Using the words “gay” or “retarded” to describe something perceived as lame or not worthy of their all mighty status. It’s just really not acceptable.
Well, I was supposed to think of five things, but this is all I’ve got for now.
